The Story so far...A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri was founded in 1963 when a group of fishermen, and a few other people from outside the fish industry, went together to establish the company which today is Europe’s foremost producer of scampi.
The continuously growing demand for scampi meant that it became necessary, and also economically viable for this, then small, local company on the island of Læsø to begin to establish itself in other places. I 1998 a subsidiary was established in Peterhead, Scotland producing and exporting scampi for the southern European markets.
In 2006, A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri also established itself in Skagen, Denmark when it acquired Marius Røntved A/S, one of Denmark’s oldest fish exporting companies.
A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri is owned by some 285 shareholders. The company is deeply rooted in the island of Læsø, and shareholders consist mainly of fishermen, employees of the company and other local people.
